AUSTRALIAN RAW TEA
Bryn Hill is the only farm in Australia producing this incredibly healthy tea, sustainably grown on our tea plantation in Tropical North Queensland. During Spring and Summer, the organically grown tea buds and young tea leaves are gently hand picked, washed, quickly freeze dried then carefully packaged to ensure only the highest quality tea drinking experience.
Freeze dried tea leaves are the next best alternative to hand harvesting your own leaves. The resulting tea leaves are far less processed than even green or white tea, and therefore very high in bioactive compounds such as polyphenols, the catechin EGCG, L-theanine and saponins.
Freeze drying, unlike conventional drying, preserves all the nutrition, colour and fibre of the tea leaves. by quickly freezing the leaves under vacuum to -40°C and then subjecting the tea leaves to very low pressures and heating to less than 45°C. This gently removes the water from the tea leaves without high temperatures so, unlike 'normal' teas (even white and green) which are heavily dried and heated, these tea leaves retain all their beneficial components-the tea is essentially 'raw'.
Numerous studies have shown these retained tea compounds provide outstanding anti-viral, anti-bacterial, neuroprotective, anti-oxidative, anti-angiogenic, anti-arthritic and immunotoxic effects.
Proven benefits of drinking raw tea leaves include reductions in inflammation, anxiety, heart disease, diabetes, cancers (especially bowel and breast), osteoporosis, skin aging, dementia and improved oral health, hair quality and alertness.
These raw tea leaves are harvested and freeze dried as whole leaves, but due to their very low water content and subsequent fragility, the final packaged tea consists of large leaf fragments rather than intact, whole tea leaves. The infusion of Bryn Hill's raw tea leaves is very pale yellow with a mild herbaceous and vegetal taste.
Due to the low caffeine content, it is a perfect refresher at any time of the day-hot or iced.
